Overview of Working With Query Results

Overview 

When a SQL statement runs, the rows of data returned are displayed within the Query Results beneath the Query Editor. Andi provides many features to assist you with sorting, filtering, and analysis of the data returned - and most features never require you to re-run your SQL statement to see updated results! 

Select any of the following to learn more about working with Query Results: 

 

Query Results Menu Options

By right mouse clicking on any row within the Query Results, a menu of options will appear. 

Update

The Update menu options provides option for updating the Selected Row, or Selected Columns. This is a Dynamic Update and allows users to update data, without having to manually write SQL!

Delete Row(s)

To Delete rows from a Result Set, select one or more rows and click the Delete Rows(s) menu item. An option will be available to Commit or Rollback the operation.

Edit

The Edit menu includes options to copy a SQL Statement (based on Query Results) or SQL Statement Modifications (if Query Results were filtered / manipulated) into the Query Editor. This is a great way to teach SQL to less experienced users!

Export

The Export menu provides an option to export the shown Query Results to a delimited file or to a spreadsheet:

Function  

The Function menu provides options to quickly perform a Sum, Average, or Median and Count calculations on the values that are selected:

Analyze Data Results Side by Side

When running multiple Queries across multiple Query Editors / connections, it can be difficult to effectively analyze data results. Andi helps users stay focused on their data by providing a simple way to analyze data results side by side. 

Right click on any Query Results tab and the result set will detach into a non-modal dialog:

While the result set is detached, you can continue to run Queries and work with Tables that are attached:

Manipulating Columns 

The ability to navigate, move, size, sort, and hide columns from Query Results make viewing and analyzing data simple. 

The ability to navigate between columns using hotkeys / shortcuts, move and size columns, apply single and multi-column sorting, hide columns from view, and more are all available!

Filtering Query Results

Andi provides dynamic sorting and filtering features to help quickly narrow down to the desired results, helping to dramatically speed up the time it takes to locate specific data. One or multiple column filters can be added to dynamically filter out rows, and each filter can be disabled or removed if results are not as expected:

Data Formatting Options 

Data that is displayed within Query Results can be formatted as needed to improve the experience of readability and analysis. The formatting changes are for display purposes only and do not impact the underlying data.

Updating Data from Query Results

 

Andi's Dynamic Data Update tool allows users to quickly update a Result Set Rows Column data, without the necessity to write complex and risky SQL Update Statements. This not only saves precious time, but also allows users who do not have as much SQL knowledge to update data without the risk of human error.

Edit
