Andi - The Authority for Database Productivity
Organizations have extreme volumes of critical data with complex relationships but cannot access or analyze it efficiently with today's outdated tools - and this impacts everyone from Business Operations to IT and Application Development. Unfortunately, outdated tools have not modernized with the now data-driven world, and cause a plethora of challenges:
Navigating complex data models is difficult and time consuming, forcing users to create lengthy and complex SQL statements
Non-technical users are obstructed from working with critical information stored in complex data types (i.e. XML, PDF, images)
Ad-hoc queries impact production, increasing database contention and database resource taxation
Scripting automation languages are not integrated, so applying business rules to query results require custom programs to be developed
Outdated tools are optimized for updates when ease of accessing, extracting, and analyzing data should be the focus
The end result? Decreased productivity across the organization, along with many other critical issues like erratic and error prone decision making, and IT bottlenecks.
This is why Andi was designed from the ground up to make data access and analysis as user friendly as possible and as quick as possible.
XML
Challenges with XML : XML can be cumbersome to select and view, which directly impacts your teams productivity.
Lets take a look at some of the most common roadblocks projects can run into when using XML
XML stored in database columns can be large and contain an abundance of data
Analysis of the XML is difficult as data is retrieved as a single line of text in most tools
Most tools are unable to retrieve large XML content, often returning timeout errors or incomplete data results
If the XML is retrieved, the results must be opened with an editor to format the data to make the information useful
Where does this leave you and your project? Unfortunately, finding specific data within an XML file is often like searching for a needle in a hay stack.
The Solution - Andi XML Viewer: Andi's revolutionary XML viewer provides your team with what may be the most productive and easy to use tool for viewing, updating, and analysis of XML documents stored in a database table:
Andi is optimized for XML or LOB (Large Object) retrieval. Select the column value and double click on the column to start working with the formatted data
The enhanced editor performs syntax highlighting and comes with multiple search tools
Ctrl-f to highlight matches and move through the document with a button click
State of the art XPath searching to quickly find and display matching elements
Select an element name and click OK to start the search
Double click on an element name to automatically run the XPath search.
Easily apply XML transformations (XSLT) to the XML document and view the result. Optionally apply the transformation back to the original document
Click the update button and directly update the XML/LOB column
Data Contention
Challenges with Data Contention : At any point in a projects life span, there can be many users and programs accessing a database. Users running ad-hoc queries while testing and debugging SQL statements are often a major source of database contention.
Keeping database contention to a minimum is essential to maintain project productivity
Many database query tools (e.g. DB2 Client, Toad etc.) are a major culprit due to flaws in design which leaves database resources opened and locked for long periods of time
Users or programs attempting to access data may fail due to database resource locks
The Solution - Andi Data Caching : Andi was designed from the ground up to reduce, if not totally eliminate, data contention. Andi caches data query results in local memory thus releasing database resource locks much earlier than any other database query tool that is available on the market. As a result, data retrieval is blazing fast and all database resources are quickly released.
Complex Data Models
Challenges with Complex Data Models : Retrieving data from complex data models is difficult and error prone.
The Solution - View Organizer : The Andi View Organizer enables users with no SQL experience to easily navigate very large data models. Users simply 'point and click' to retrieve data from pre-defined data paths.
Business entry points can be defined which allows users to start browsing based on schools and easily navigate and find the students which are enrolled and the classes they are taking. Just double click on findSchool to start browsing or double click the Schools node to view all schools.
Filters rapidly reduce the number of rows to sift through without writing SQL. Double click on a filter and add one or more values. Click run to start browsing.
Now you are ready to work with the results. Select one or more rows and click the Show Details button to view related tables.
Each detail tab presents a view into a related table. Select a row(s) in a detail table and click the Show Details button to continue browsing.
